SPEEDWAY 95 NEWS RELEASE
May 11th, 2008 By Bill DaButler (Hermon, Me) 11 Feature races were on the card for Mothers Day at Maine’s Family Fun track, Speedway 95 in Hermon, 5 of which were make up races from the rained out events of April 27th. Also, as an added attraction, the first appearance of the Mid-Coast Mini Cups raced the third mile oval. Shane Clark of Winterport picked up the win in Dysart’s Pro-Limited make up race, this first race of three in their 50-lap Pro-Limited Series. There were four cautions in the event, that took many of the early players out of contention for the win, including Dave St. Clair (Boss Hogg) of Liberty, Josh St. Clair of Liberty and Glen Curtis, Jr. of Hudson. Duane Seekins of Stockton Springs stayed out of danger to finish second and Hermon’s Scott Modery crossed the line for third. Curtis found his way back in the closing laps towards the front of the field to take fourth. Between the two feature events, by taking time in the pits to dial in his ride, Brenton Parritt of Stueben bettered his 7th place finish in the first feature to earn the pole for the second race, and led the field to the checkered flag in caution-free 35 lap affair. Curtis improved to finish second, a half a lap behind Parritt. Third place honors went to once again to Modery. (More on the weekly winners page or in the archives.) Speedway 95 returns to action on Sunday, May 18th at 2, with the first race in the Coca Cola Strictly Street series, and the Maine Super-Cup racing League, plus regular racing from the Sport-Fours, Super Streets, Pro-Limiteds, and Trucks. Arrive early and ride with your favorite driver. _______________________________________________

Dean McKeage of Gorham held off Levant’s Shane Tatro to take in the win in the Sportsman features, and Mark Lucas oh Harpswell finished first in the PASS Mod Feature. (4-27-08)RAIN HALTS SPEEDWAY 95 PROGRAM
After a morning of brief showers, the rains stopped long enough Sunday afternoon for Speedway 95 to start it’s racing program with a visit from the Wicked Good Vintage Racing Association who showed up with 21 race cars from yesteryear. Although the feature was run under less than perfect conditions, Tim Reynolds of Milford drove his ’37 Plymouth to victory. John Rice finished second in a ’37 Pontiac coupe, followed by Haggie Pratt of Dexter in a ’38 Chevy, Mark Collins of Appleton in his ’36 Ford coupe and Robert Hills of Searsmont in a ’36 Chevy. Before the rains re appeared and forced cancellation of the regular feature events, qualifying was completed with David Green of Hampden and David Shorey of Old Town winning the heats in the Sport-Four division. Wayne Parritt Jr. of Steuben won the Strictly Streets, Kris Watson of Hermon won in the Super Streets, Ernie Wallace of Winterport won in the pick up trucks and Glenn Curtis of Hudson took the Pro Limited qualifyer. The regular competitors at Speedway 95 get next week-end off as the Pro All Stars Series comes to the 1/3 mile Hermon oval for it’s only appearance here of the year. The Super Late Models, Outlaws, Sportsman and Modified divisions are all slated for competition. The Speedway 95 Sport-Fours will also be on the card. When regular racing at Speedway 95 resumes on Sunday May 11, the feature races rained out this week will be made up beginning at 1:00 p.m., highlighted by the 50 lap Dysart’s Pro Limited feature. A regular show will follow at the conclusion of the make up events, which will include a 50 lap CAM II Super Street event, as well as a visit from the Mid Coast mini cups.
