JASON TRUNDY RETURNS TO 95 ENDURO VICTORY LANE Old Town’s Jason Trundy returned to victory lane in the Little Enduros at Speedway 95 Wednesday night as he took his first win of the season. Trundy started fourth in the field and passed pole sitter Mike Witham of Milo for the lead on the fourth lap, and never looked back during the 20 lap caution free feature event. With good battles for position happening throughout the field, and lots of action when the leaders passed slower traffic, Paul Higgins of Newburgh emerged as the second place finisher. Higgins and Darren Durrell, also of Newburgh waged a fierce but clean battle for the second spot until Durrell’s exhaust system began dragging the track, upsetting the handling on his Honda Prelude. Durrell held on for a third place finish while Donny Blanchard worked his way from the back of the field to post a fourth place finish for the night. Witham, who won the first qualifier earlier in the evening, wound up fifth at the checkers. The second qualifier was won by Higgins. ______________________________________________ The thoughts and prayers of the Speedway 95 racing community are with Ikey’s family during this very difficult time.
(excerpt from the Press Release 6/6/09) The second Super Street event was interrupted on lap 11 when driver Ikey Dorr of Addison pulled his car to a stop on the front stretch just out of turn four. The wrecker crew came to assist, and Dorr waved to them to push him. As they attempted to push the car, it just drifted toward the infield. They then went to the car to see what happened, found Dorr unconscious in the car, and called for assistance from the track medical team. Efforts to resuscitate Dorr at the scene were unsuccessful, and a second ambulance was called to transport him to the hospital. Dorr was pronounced dead upon his arrival at the hospital due to a heart attack. Dorr was 56 and had been racing at Speedway 95 since 1988. His two sons were with him at the track Saturday night working on his pit crew.
