Banquet 2003
The 2003 season of racing at Speedway 95 in Hermon, was capped off
with the annual awards banquet at the Elks Lodge in Bangor, on November 14th
2003. Hosting the event for the year were track announcers George Thomas,
and Bill Butler. Trophies and checks were handed out in all divisions, as
well as special awards including rookie of the year and Most Improved.

Pulling in the top honor in the Small Trucks Division, for the second year
in a row, was Jay Jayrod Robichaud from Orrington. Robichaud dominated
this season at the track, capturing the checkered flag at nearly every race.

In the Sport 4 Division, it was Barry Elston from Carmel at the top of the
pack, Barry, a veteran driver told fans at the end of the season, that he
planned on transitioning from driver, to crew chief, with his daughter
behind the wheel in go-cart racing in 2004.

Mike Lynch from Winterport brought home his first Championship trophy in the
Strictly Street Division. The Limited Sportsman Division Championship went
to Ryan Deane, also from Winterport. Alex Shaw from Hermon received the top
spot in the Super Street Division.

Bringing home the Championship in the Sportsman Division was Andy Saunders
from Ellsworth. Saunders brought home a pile of awards including most
improved, and the Sportsmanship award for his division. In a post ceremony
interview Saunders expressed his excitement to return to the track in 2004,
to take on the Pro-All Star Series in the opening race of the season. I
don¹t think I would miss that for a million dollarsŠ.I would have to say the
April 24th is high on our list!

Wednesday Night racing Championships went to Brett Crosby in the Full Size
Pick-up Division, Billie Allen in the Ladies Division, Bob Merchant in the
Little Enduro Division, and Eric Worster from Lee took home the top honors
for the Big Enduros.

The Rookie Of The Year honors that really stood out were in the Limited
Sportsman & Sport 4 divisions. Both drivers, finished in the top 5 for the
season, and both drivers were just 15 years old. Those honors went to Rodney
Brooks, in the Limited Sportsman Division, and Colin Arey Jr in the Sport 4
division.

The Country music of Jeff Simon & Mainely Country capped off the evening.
